In April, 2008 several preservation organizations held the Bell Labs Charrette and published the report.

Inspired by the possibilities explored at the Charrette, the Somerset Development obtained an option for purchasing the property in August 2008. Their plans are shown in this presentation given February 12, 2009.

In August 2013 the Redevelopment Plan from Somerset Development was approved by Holmdel Township.
